ORDESA AND MONTE PERDIDO NATIONAL PARK
THE GEOGRAPHICAL RELIEF OF THE PARK IS THE RESULT OF TWO POWERFUL FORCES OF EROSION: ICE AND WATER. IT THEREFORE CONSTITUTES A LANDSCAPE OF EXTREME CONTRASTS.
The park constitutes a geography unity of the highest order, ranking as the highest limestone massif in Europe. Formed during the Tertiary Period from calcareous marine sediments, it is dominated by three peaks known as Las Tres Serols: Monte Perdido (3,355 m), the Marboré Cylinder and the Pico de Añisclo, also called the Soum de Ramond that enfold the Ordesa, Pineta, Añisclo and Escuaín valleys.

ORDESA VALLEY
DURING THE REPEATED GLACIATIONS OF THE PLEISTOCENE ERA, ENORMOUS SHEETS OF ICE MOVED THROUGH ORDESA AS FAR AS THE BROTO VALLEY, GIVING THESE VALLEYS THEIR CHARACTERISTIC 'U' SHAPE.
